History of Emeralds:
Emeralds are precious gemstones and have regular demands in the market. Emeralds have been the stones of royal families in history. History of emerald stones start from mines near the Red Sea also called “Cleopatra’s Mines”. Here the pharaohs of times used to gather gemstones in between 3000 and 1500 B.C. Some communities like Incas and Aztec used to take emeralds as a holy stone and used to worship it. Emerald is still a desired gemstone for royal families around the world. Some communities take emeralds green colour as holy colour. Ancient Romans used to take emerald colour as a symbol of love and beauty.
Emerald is a variety of beryl family. Beryl has also other varieties such as morganite, aquamarine, helidor, Bixbite etc. Emeralds have a hardness of 7.5 our of 10 on MOHS scale. It is a hard gemstone. However emerald can be brittle so it should be carefully handled while handling or cutting. The shape of the emeralds is Hexagonal.
